Sam from the Lower East Side

Sam in the late 1920s, as a (more) mature man in his mid-to-late twenties. We will eventually get to this point in my Tapas and Webtoon Canvas graphic novel, “Sam in New York”!

This is part of a larger picture that shows Sam’s father, Lev, in #Odessa as a young man, to compare and contrast Lev and Sam as young men.

Sam has the Lower East Side, more specifically, his favorite deli, behind him. The Lower East Side, after all, is his Plymouth Rock, the foundation of his identity.
